Discover Shrimpers Grill And Raw Bar

Walking into Shrimpers Grill And Raw Bar at 4903 SE Dixie Hwy, Stuart, FL 34997, United States feels like stepping into a place that knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be anything else. I’ve eaten at plenty of coastal diners over the years, both as a local and while traveling for work, and this spot stands out because it blends a relaxed, no-frills atmosphere with seafood that’s handled with care and respect. You can smell the grill as soon as you walk in, and that’s usually a good sign that the kitchen is doing things the right way.

From my first visit, what struck me was how confidently the menu sticks to its roots. The focus is clearly on fresh shrimp, oysters, and classic grill favorites, without overwhelming diners with endless options. According to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, shrimp remains the most consumed seafood in the United States, averaging over four pounds per person annually. That popularity sets a high bar, and this kitchen seems well aware of it. The shrimp baskets are cooked to order, never rubbery, and seasoned just enough to let the natural sweetness come through. I’ve seen the staff bring out raw oysters packed on ice, shucked cleanly and served fast, which speaks to solid training and good sourcing practices.

One afternoon, I chatted briefly with a server about how they prep for busy weekends. She explained that shrimp deliveries are checked immediately for quality and temperature before storage, following food safety guidance similar to what the FDA recommends for shellfish handling. That process matters more than most diners realize, especially when raw bar items are involved. It also explains why reviews often mention consistency; whether you show up on a quiet weekday or during a packed dinner rush, the plates tend to look and taste the same.

The grill side of the menu deserves attention too. Burgers and fish sandwiches are cooked over open flames, which adds a smoky depth you don’t get from flat-top cooking. I once brought a friend who usually avoids seafood, and he ordered a grilled chicken sandwich out of caution. Halfway through the meal, he admitted he should have gone for the shrimp instead, especially after trying a bite of mine. That kind of moment says a lot about a place’s confidence in its core offerings.

Location plays a role in the experience as well. Sitting just off SE Dixie Highway, the restaurant is easy to reach without feeling like a tourist trap. Locals drop in after work, and you’ll often hear regulars greet staff by name. That kind of familiarity doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built over years of showing up, serving solid food, and listening to feedback. Online reviews frequently highlight friendly service and generous portions, which aligns with what I’ve seen firsthand.

In terms of value, seafood prices have climbed nationwide due to fuel costs and supply chain pressures, something industry groups like the National Restaurant Association have documented in recent reports. Even with those challenges, this diner manages to keep portions satisfying without cutting corners. That balance is hard to pull off, and it suggests smart management and careful menu planning.

There are limits, of course. If you’re looking for white-tablecloth dining or experimental flavors, this probably isn’t your place. The strength here is simplicity done well, not culinary theatrics. Still, for anyone who appreciates a straightforward raw bar, a reliable grill, and a laid-back setting, this spot delivers an experience that feels honest and grounded. The combination of fresh seafood, a focused menu, and a location that locals trust makes it easy to understand why people keep coming back.

  • My cousin took me to Shrimpers for lunch where I had my first taste of Grouper. Shrimpers Grill and Raw Bar makes a fantastic Grouper Ruben sandwich. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere is extremely casual and laid-back. I really enjoyed the couple of hours. My cousin and I spent there having a wonderful lunch! If you're in. Stuart, give Shrimpers a try.

  • Emily our waitress was one of the nicest waitresses I’ve ever had. So sweet and personable. She greeted us with a smile and continued that throughout the evening. I would highly recommend Shrimper’s and ask for Emilie. You won’t be disappointed.

  • Our fish was cocked perfect, we loved it. The calamari also was delicious, fresh cook. We had Tito’s bloody merry and I have to say that drink was strong and good. For desert we had chocolate mousse, for that one, it was ok not my favorite of all the food. The day was beautiful with rain and we enjoyed being out seeing the boats passing by.

  • Great Restaurant we had a few crunchy grouper sandwiches, a few fired captains platters and the Carribean Mahi plate blackened w rice. Great service friendly staff, they even helped me with ice after a productive charter with Catch Of The Day Sportfishing right out back.

  • Thank you Emily for making our day!! We took a ride from WPB with our dog on a whim and had never been here before, not knowing just how pet friendly they are! They have a doggie space & their own menu Punkin had a burger that she loved! The water view is so relaxing! Emily suggested the Bang Bang Shrimp so that's what the hoomans started with. Drinks were reasonably priced. We had the Conch Chowder & Blackened Grouper with onion rings & cole slaw, both of us were quite content! No room for dessert. Highly recommend!! We can't wait to come back! Thank you!!

  • Great food, great service, and great view. Had a great meal out on the dock area. The grouper Reuben sandwich was fantastic and worth a try! If needed, you are able to pull up your boat to park and eat.

  • There were 8 of us so we had a wide range of items from the menu to include appetizers, entrees and dessert. Check the photos for the atmosphere. It was really nice on the water front. Our server was the best. She had her hands full taking care of us and did a superb job. Definitely will go back.

  • Our first time tonight and it was such a cute spot! The drinks were good, the service was attentive, the food was fresh and hot but the view was the main attraction. The "famous" grouper ruben was perfectly fried portion but was missing sauerkraut. My husband enjoyed the clams and oysters basket. We both had a cup/bowl of their delicious clam chowder and the flavor was soo good, I wish there were more clam pieces in it but the flavor was good overall. We will definitely be back.
